spdif problem

I am trying to use the SPDIF output option on my dell insprion 9200 (which outputs SPDIF through the s-video port, with an adapter)

When I play a DVD with PowerDVD it outputs SPDIF fine, but if I try to play the same DVD with VLC, then it throws out choppy audio throgh the SPDIF output. Anyone else experience this?

Did you use Waveout output?

That seems to have fixed it. I had it on default output, which I guess isnt the waveout. thanks!

Anyway to get VLC to output SPDIF for video files that are just stereo audio?

Ran a test DVD audio disk and this is what I found, There are issues with the 9.4 VLC Media Player when using 5.1 sound. What is happen is the Right Front, Centre & Right Rear speakers are all playing out of the Right Front Speaker and Left Front & Left Rear all are playing out of the Left Front.
