Hi
same problem here
"use one instance only" isn't tick (by default), and i still can't open more than one VLC
of course, if I tick this, nothing changes, still can't.
Win XP SP2, vlc 0.9.2

At least I can open multiple VLC instances (tested with vlc-0.9.3-git-20080923-0207). But you try to open multiple files by doubleclicking them?

Yes,
here, double clicking a file A when VLC is already playing a file B, just makes VLC add file A in playlist and automatically play it.
but it doesn't open another instance.

you have to disable "one instance when started from file"

i can't see any "one instance when started from file" option
but, as i said above :
"Allow only one instance" isn't tick (by default), and i still can't open more than one VLC
of course, if I tick this, nothing changes, still can't.
Win XP SP2, vlc 0.9.2
edit : hmmm, okey found it, in \Prefs\Advanced\Advanced\
it's a big misbehavior imho, and if "allow only one instance" is disable by default (as it is), it should be disable too, or at least shown in the same place, for instance in Simples prefs, or this is nonsense
And, Even if you really don't want it to be in Simples Prefs, it should not be in "advanced" menu, but in interface\Qt menu

Hi - is it just me or is this a problem again in version 1.0.1?
Is it possible to have vlc open more than one instance when double clicking files.
Unticking 'allow one instance' apparently does not equate to there be more instances than one.
Thank you in advance

Does the issue exist if you start VLC manually with --started-from-file option? If it does, then you can remove that option from file associations and then double click from files should work correctly.
