[0.9.2] Position at opening

I deleted 0.8.6 so I can't really test but, IIRC the position at opening, when lauchning VLC was better coded on 0.8.6
I might be wrong but i think it was better on 0.8.6.
At least on my computer (XP, 1024x768)
I Think last VLC remembered the position when pressing "save" (preferences). I'd like this one to be more upper and more on left of the screen.
I did search quickly a setting in pref to force a start position and didn't find it.
Thanks for help.

Unlike 0.8.6x just put the player where you want it on screen and when you reopen the player it should be where you last put it. There is nothing in preferences to set.

No it does not, not here.
In my case VLC always appears at position X,Y : 320,330 (the top left corner of VLC)
I would prefer it to be at around 150,160

vlc 0.8.6x or earlier used the wx windows interface and did not remember position. In 0.9.2 vlc uses the qt interface and it is supposed to remember position or at least it does for me using Windows XP SP3.
What is your OS?
There was an old Windows trick for programs that do not internally remember position. The holding the ctrl or alt key while closing the program.

It does remember automatically. Look at your qt-vlc conf file.

I agree, it should be working. Windows XP SP2 or SP3 should not make a difference. Skin mode has remembered player position for a long time now.

for me, it only remembers the VLC window position when I close it while the video isn't showing (ie video is stopped). -- using Win XP SP2 (if that matters)

I would really like to, really. I tried to, but honestly this is very complicated,
I fully understand this trac system is much much better for devs than a simple forum, but for users this is really really heavy just to report a simple bug
really hard to :
- find where to report a bug from the website OR the forum, this is really not clear at all (imho the goal of a bug report system is for devs to know the existence of a bug, so even a newbie should be able to report easily the one he discovered)
- Once we found the place it's still a big big mess, really awful to read and to find the way how to simply report a bug :/
- And very sadly this system require another subscription, it does not recognize a forum account

Well, it depend on HOW hard you want us to fix the bug.
If you don't report it on the trac system, with so many news bugs on the forum, I will probably just forget it. Not that I don't like you, I just am NOT a machine.

I know, I understand,
was just my 2cts, I think way to access this system should be clearer on the webpage (and on the forum), by just a putting a link "Report bugs" more clearly. and the way to report it (including the registration needed even if we already have a forum account) should be simplify.
Will try again tomorrow.
