You need to provide much more infos about your problem: version of Vista, version of VLC and what are the codecs reported by VLC (Tools -> Codec Information).

And also post a messages log (Tools -> Messages and set Verbosity Level to 2).

When playing the video press "Ctrl+I" and click on the "Advanced information" tab to see the codecs used.

For messages a simple way to just open the Messages window "View >> Messages..." and then play the file. Copy the output to here (and place the text in a <code> BBCode tag preferably).

Arite.

Is that the information for "Land of the Dead," or "Shoot 'Em Up"?

It might help if you load the problem video(s) into MediaInfo, and cut and paste the information here (you may need to set MediaInfo to Tree mode first, I don't know...)

Is it Shoot Em' Up DVD? if so, someone else also reported some issues, they are because of new copyprotection stuff used in those DVDs.
