I have vlc 0.8.6i and it freezes on video playback on vista, i dont have the issue in xp what could be the probelm

Try nightlies. If they don't work any better, update your video card drivers.

video card drivers are updated and that like you sent me doesnt work, just times out i get :
Connection Interrupted



The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

server works now, but that didnt fix the issue

With freeze you mean that whole VLC freezes or just the video?

whole video doesnt matter what format, its jerks, then freezes

So you can open another video and play it after video freezes?

yes i can close vlc, and open another video and play it, i cant stop the current frozen video, but i can use the file menu and such..so vlc itself itsnt reallt frozen just the video & doesnt matter what i play even iso formats do the same..thank you!

Does same happen if you change video output module to OpenGL?

yes any of those i tried them, but forgot to post that..

You saved the option and restarted VLC before trying them?

yes of course

No problem with audio files?

yes even on playing audio, i even tried the latest build 5 sept 08

If audio files freeze VLC, it has nothing to do with display adapter. Does it help if you change audio output module to Waveout?

no tried all same as video, saved settings a reloaded file

Does it work if you set audio output module to dummy?

i try the dummy with audio video plays fine doesn't freeze but of course no audio, but duh!

i try dummy just with video and it freezes, so my snd card driver are up to date..now also tried sept 8th build but no luck

well the latest one dated "2006/11/21" is in beta, so i dunno if i want risk it

What system are you running? (laptop?)

desktop pc i build, the board is a asus P5N32-E SLI Plus

Nvidia driver page has more recent drivers. Are there any other programs that crashing or freezing issues?

well my chipset is : C55+MCP55P; a.k.a. nForce 650i SLI & nForce 570 SLI so i went to the nvidia site d/led the nForce 650i SLI drivers, ill get back to ya
