Shoutcasts Don't Play

Postby sour_beans » 10 Aug 2008 02:22

Hi, I've looked everywhere for how to do this, but for some reason, I can't seem to listen to the radio on VLC. I know how to do it, but everytime I want to listen to a shoutcast, it doesn't play. I'm sure I've set it up properly:

Code: Select all

View -> Playlist... -> Manage -> Services Discovery -> Shoutcast radio listings & Shoutcast TV listings
TV listings work just fine. The problem is with music (radio?); any genre I select doesn't play. Am I missing something? I searched through the Wiki, I downloaded the PDF guides (User Guide, etc.) and searched this forum and Google, but nobody seems to share my problem. I don't know a lot of technical details dealing with VLC and streaming, and I don't want to stream anything over a network; I just want to be able to listen to different radio channels on VLC, but they refuse to play.

Manage -> Services Discovery -> Shoutcast radio listings & Shoutcast TV listings should show you different genres. After you have found genre you want to listen, doubleclick it. After a few moments it should show + before genre, expand it and double click the radio station you want to listen.

Oh! I'm really stupid. Alright, thanks; that worked! Sorry, I just got VLC a few days ago, so I'm still a newb.
