Getting fed of VLC

I can not count the times I uninstalled and installed a new just to get it to work. Sometimes the sound is not what it should be so after I uninstall and reinstall the sould is good. Recently though when I set up the preferences to do a snapshot and then play a movie and deside I want to snap a picture I click snapshot and I get the vlc prompt to send this error to VLC and notify internet exployer. Yea!!! right like Internet Exployer does anything at all for any errors I send. I get to the point where I do not send error. BUT..........whatever I do send or not after I click...say to send the error and after a nice "Thankyou for sending this to VLC" (do not know if THEY even do anything with this error) the VLC program shuts off and I have to start the movie over again and again. Perhaps I am doing something wrong..don't know. So, it would be GREAT to get some help here for this problem.

Hi, I also have the same problem: taking snapshots (even in the default interface) crashes VLC. Well, I've found a workaround: I use the Ctrl + Prt Sc (Control + Print Screen) key combination to take a snapshop of my entire screen. I open up Paint and then paste in the picture, and crop it to just the video player. Try it out, that's the only way you'll know :) . We just have to hope that this gets fixed in the next version of VLC.

Good idea I can get the picture or snap when I go to paint but don't know how to crop just the picture and all of my pastes are black. Are you saving jpeg or what.

Still not working. I can't believe just two are having this problem with the snaphot. Why am I not hearing from someone official about this? If thee is a problem with your software could you atleast say there is and we are working on it.

Are there other DVD movie players out there that are free?

Please use search. Snapshot doesn't work with current 0.8.6i, also internet explorer ain't same as windows explorer. Also there isn't any need of reinstall, just reset VLC settings.

Also there isn't any need of reinstall, just reset VLC settings. Sorry, but reset to what? Understand I am 64 and disabled and use my computer to baby set me during the day!! I like to watch movies.

Could you just give me the download for whatever version where the "snapshot" is working. I hope you do not tell me it is 0.8.6i because I just had that and it is NOT working. I downloaded that one becuase it was 9mb and larger then the other setups.

I looked at that link and it only added to the confusion for me. You have a GOOD product and I do like it I just want to do a snapshot ocaccionally.

If you installed VLC there should be reset option under Start -> Programs -> VLC, you can also use Settings -> Preferences and press Reset all then press Save and then restart VLC.

http://download.videolan.org/pub/videol ... .6h/win32/
0.8.6h should have working snapshot.

Fine it worked but now I keep getting a message:

VLC has encountered a problem and needs to close we are sorry for this problem. You may lose what ever you were watching.

Bla Bla does this ever end. Inspite of the inconvience your program vlc 0.86h for the snap shot did work but HEY!!!!! If this error keeps occuring and say in the middle of the movie (my case a doccumentary on Peral Harbor) there are no scenes to go to you just start over (frack!) can not keep doing this.

viewtopic.php?f=14&t=49163 is what you suggested to me but that seems to be the old version and Hmmmmmm the snapshot does not work.

Now the vlc-o.8.6h-win32 worked. Even the snapshot. What is the win32 mean is this for windows XP or what. (could be my problem)

When watching a movie it was jerky and I guess that made it out of sync. (how can I correct this?)

also a scene will pause and jump ahead or just shut down.

I may have something wrong with my computer though

Win32 = Windows run with 32 bit x86 compatible CPU. All are videos jerky? If so, other players also have this issue?

I trying out another software "Media Player 321" it is not jerky. All are videos jerky? If so, other players also have this issue?
However there helps section is way out in left field. Supposidely you are supposed to config. to do there version of a snapshot but have not worked it out as of yet. I love it when there is absoluely NO way to communicate with them and no forum. I am still waiting on your final solution to your problems and I hope before this year is out!!

Not necessary that you understand. I will keep checking in from time to time so see if your software people have worked out a solution for the snapshot AND the slight jerkiness that you say is normal in all DVD movie players. Not so!!
