When I play back an flv file recorded (raw) using vlc media player the sound is juumbled a little like someone altering the speed so that it is not possible to here the individual sounds. there is also no video on play back.
Anyone got any suggestions?

Anything suspicious in the messages... window? Usually it's quite blabby.

Lots so I have made a cut as it seems quite repetitive
Messages under Windows XP

On the Suse 11 system there are some additional pieces of information

mpeg_audio debug: free bitrate mode
mpeg_audio debug: frame too big 2509 > 2508 (emulated startcode ?)
mpeg_audio debug: emulated startcode (no startcode on following frame)
mpeg_audio debug: emulated startcode (no startcode on following frame)
mpeg_audio debug: emulated startcode (no startcode on following frame)

If there is anywhere else that I should look then let me know

How did you do the recording?

I used VLC media player and selected RAW on one and the default settings on the other with the same results

Not helping you at all really but i am having the same problem (i think).Just playing a pre-recorded dvd and the sound is very weird. i have un-installed and re-installed twice now but dont know what else to do.
I am using windows XP but being useless when it comes to these things thats all i can tell you really.Everything else requiring sound on the pc is fine.

I have not been able to try all your suggestions yet due to a program hogging my computer for some time. But have set Direct X as ouptut

However I can say that using Replay Media Catcher there is no problem and flv files recorded on it play perfectly on VLC media centre. So I guess that one of the potential causes can be eliminated. It is not in the orginal file but either in the recording by VLC or the play back.

When I can get ot my computer again will give more information

Thanks for the suggestion but changing it to that didn't help.It was working fine 2 days ago and then went weird.any more help? i really like VLC and don't really want to switch to another player.

Reseting VLC settings might help.
