What Card is Best?

Howdy All,
I am building a PC to show a combination of advertisements (Flash, SWF) and TV (VLC). I've had partial success with cheaper cards.
What is the best and most stable card for VLC? Do any of them have a watchdog feature?
Thanks!! VLC Rocks!

Hi pjsteele,
If I understand correctly you want to stream tv and embed some ads in it right?
I am not sure about the ads , but I have been using Hauppauge PVR 150 for TV streaming for a few months now and the card is rock stable.
One thing though , I use the card on Linux since none of TV cards ever have been stable for me on Windows (I have owned a few in the past).
Another thing to consider when you build the system , make sure you don't have a VIA chipset with your motherboard.
There have been many complaints on Hauppauge cards when used on VIA chipset motherboards.
I myself have an ASROCK motherboard with Intel chipset with celeron 2.4Ghz on the linux server which I also use as fileserver and other things.
I am not sure what you mean by "watchdog feature"?

I used watchdog feature for CCTV Capture cards. It is a small cable that attaches to the reset jumper on the PC (subsituting the reset switch). If the software does not respond in XXX milliseconds it reboots the PC. Very handy if you have a PC that needs to remain up 100%.
Thanks!!
