No timeshifting or pause in VLC 0.8.6C when using RTSP

Hey,

I have a problem using RTSP streams in VLC 0.8.6C when using RTSP streams, normaly you would get a timebar and you would be able to pause and resume when you want to, but there isn't a timebar and it doesnt even respond to the pause button. I have also tried the latest version of VLC but it has the same problems and it allways crashes after about a minute of playtime? Anyways, I wouldn't be able to use newer versions anyway because the 0.8.6C engine is allready implemented in my software. Does anybody have an idea as to how this is possible and better yet, how to fix it?

Nils

Have you tried to View -> Messages... to see if you get any errors while trying to pause?

Vies>Messages displays main debug: control type=1 every time I press the pause button but I don't think thats of any importance.

You could try to use Wireshark to check if VLC really sends the pause command forward. You can also try nightlies.

The nightlies are even worse, they cant even decently play the stream. Gets stuck after about a minute, tried multiple streams.
