Current versions of VLC and Windows NT 4.0

Hi,
I am attempting to run VLC 0.8.6h on Windows NT 4.0 SP6; however, while the program installs succesfully, I get an 'illegal exception' error & the program crashes instantly upon attempting to run it. Backtracing through the various versions of VLC, the last version that runs succesfully is 0.8.4 - 0.8.4a crashes. I looked at the changelogs for 0.8.4 to 0.8.4a & there doesn't appear to be anything major that should prevent the program from running. Are current versions of VLC expected to run properly on NT4, and if so, is there anything in particular that you all would advise me to do to attempt to get them running on this O/S?
For what its worth, I can send you all the drwtsn32.log file if you think it would be helpful.
Thanks!

There are known issues with Windows Me and with Windows 98/95. I am not sure if anyone has tested NT 4.0 compatibility.

Hello. I am experiencing similar problems. The latest version of VLC for Windows 95/98/ME/NTis apparently version 0.8.6i. However, although it installs great, when the program opens, I also get an 'illegal exception' error. This happens with VLC 0.8.6f,0.8.6h,0.8.6i. Since they are versions that work with Win9X/ME, I would assume they would work with Windows NT 4.0 (released 1996). I am using SP6a. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Take an older version or upgrade your OS.

I have successfully installed v. 0.8.4 on Windows NT 4.0. This is not my primary OS. I mainly use Windows Vista and Windows 2000 SP4. Windows 2000 will surprisingly run the latest VLC and other programs, so long as you install UURollup. I just thought that because VLC 0.8.6i Works on windows 95 (older than NT 4), NT 4.0 would certainly run version 0.8.6i.

NT version have never been tested, tbh.

I don't really understand why NT 4.0 was never tested, although I can confirm that version 0.8.4 works (not 0.8.5 and up, they crash with an illegal exception error.)
