Hi

I have just installed VLC 0.8.6f release to my windows system but I’m having a problem with accessing the player from my start menu. When I click on the Icon in the start menu the payer opens then disappears. I can open it with the desktop shortcut but not from the menu. Also the VLC symbol is tagged with “Set Video Mode to OpenGL" here:

Additional Info:
- XP Professional
- Service Pack3
- I have also tried to enable OpenGL by clicking on START>All Programs>VideoLAN>Quick Settings>Video>Set Mode to OpenGL - but like clicking the icon in the Start Menu the player opens then dissapears?

Kind Regards

Have you checked what the start menu entry actually tries to do (command line wise)?
(and please don't use orange/yellow text :D )

Yes! I clicked on the cone icon (pictured above) which is situated in the Start menu, the player starts up and then disappears.
If you're talking about starting up the VLC Player using command prompt, then I have no idea on how to do that.

Kind Regards

No. I meant that you right click the problematic start menu entry, select Properties and check the Target entry from Shortcut tab.

Hi

Ive done as you said and it brings up the following folder: "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC". When I click on the icon there labelled "vlc, VLC Media Player, VideoLAN Team" it works fine just not from the start menu?

Edit: Ive just worked it out and removed this icon from the start menuImage. It has now replaced it with another icon labelled "VLC Media Player".
