Recently i have been downloading something i like to watch on a weekly basis. I have in total downloaded 6 files all of which have played perfectly on VLC.

Their files types are:
2x .AVI
4x .MKV

When playing these files i pressed 'Ctrl' + 'i' and looked at the encoding, they are as followed:

XVID
A52
A52
A52
XVID
A52

However, this week the file was released as a .MKV with ecoding: mpga and it wont play, it was released from the same people who have released the other files. I also downloaded another new, different file from these people and it was also mpga encoding.

How can i play these? I have been looking forward to it all week >.<

Very very sorry! I just noticed the encoding on one of them is MPGV and the other is MPGA. Neither work.

I guess your VLC is broken, since mpgv and mpga work perfectly in vlc...
So maybe some mkv with those are broken...

If you can't upload those, I can't do anything.
