Low Volume on Voices on DivX Movies in VLC

Postby skating101 » 27 Feb 2008 00:27

I have my computer connected to a 32" lcd tv and 2.1 channel logitech z2300 speakers and i use VLC to play a large collection of divX or Xvid movies that are on my computer but i always have the problem of low volume of the voices compared to relatively loud ambient noices in the movie does anyone know a solution? I found this explanation after a bit of searching on the net but does anyone know how to fix it?
"Most of the time the reason the audio is so low, from AC?.? to stero is because the filter doesn't remux the streams the best way, and so 'ambiant' noise is overly-baised to the voice tracks. This is difficult to fix properly on the fly, and so useually ends up with very quiet voice - and normal volume sound fx."

With VLC only option is to select Stereo as Audio Device if it isn't already assuming that audio is AC3 (Dolby Digital).

If you use directshow players, you can adjust settings from AC3filter or FFDshow (depends which one you use for AC3 audio).
