If you have multiple sound devices, then choose DirectX audio output and tick the advanced options and under Output modules -> DirectX use output device and choose your firewire device (there are only numbers, so you have to use trial and error to figure the right one).

I didn't fix audio because, i don't see video.
i use minidv camcoder as firewire device
when i use it in vrc mode, the application DVApp from directx 9 sdk can output videofile on it

I have such variants in Settings->Preferences : Video->Output modules->DirectX
"Name of desired display device" : Default,display,\\.\DISPLAY1

I think that is "display,\\.\DISPLAY1" is my videocard.

If anybody know how make firewire output of vlc for any OS, please tell me.
Sorry for my english

IIRC VLC can't output video via Firewire, so you have to use another program.

If the device can be setup as a drive with a drive letter and accessible through Windows Explorer, VLC can use it.

It doesn't work. Copying video over firewire ain't same as file copying. So no go with VLC.

http://www.linux1394.org/faq.php#DVtransmit
for Linux, so my guess is that just piping the video won't work.

I compiled vlc 0.9.0
and there is in tools->extended setings->Video Adjustments and Effects such
fields: Vout filters, Video filters, Subpicture filters

May be here I can insert dshow filter
i don't know how, but i think that dshow filter can be stored at file_name.ax

help me what means "Vout filters" ? Сan it be output dshow filter?
And if so where is Audio_out filters?

My guess is that it ain't possible without writing a code, because VLC only uses internal stuff, so external codecs/filters won't work. But if you want to code yourself, you could ask sourcecode and maybe help from dev of WinDV.

WinDV source is available on the official website since 2010-01-25 (note that needs MS Platform SDK).
