cant play files?? (cannot be opened error)

ok i have all codecs installed, and i can play all files expect video files from dl.tv that are divx or any video files from revison3.com that are xvid, but i can play mov or wmv.... from them, actually i'am playing them from a shared pc, the that pc can play them just fine, but i cant use that pc to watch videos..long story..... but if i play them in any shared pc or media device, i get cannot be opened in vlc and thats all it tells me???????

FIrst, installing codecs doesn't help VLC because it doesn't use external decoders. My VLC opened dl.tv divx files without error, revision3.com was down, so I couldn't test those.

So problem is when you try to open from shared network drive, VLC complains about it? If so, open View -> Messages and after that try to open file and copy paste the error here.
