Brightness problem since nvidia 163.71

Since i updated my nvidia drivers to 163.71, the video is always darker than it should be and changing the brightness in the settings menu doesn't seem to fix the problem. I tested the same video on WMP and it doesnt have this issue. I even tried upping the brightness in the new nvidia control panel and it had no effect.
