Playing matroskas in windows2000(disaster) and vista(succes

Postby abrakatabra » 14 Oct 2007 13:56

I downloaded the latest stable version of vlc and installed it on my(old) computer[windows 2000pro, 1GHz, 500MB] and to the(new) laptop of my friend(vista, 2.xx dual core...).

In windows2000pro it plays avis, oggs etc nicely but playing matroskas(.mkv) is disatrous.(any kind of this package format).

On the other hand the same vlc plays matroskas(a majority of them) super on the vista laptop.

What is going on and how can I play them well in win2000?

Thanks for your time...

disastrous how (choppy playback, no playback etc)? Specially files which have x264 video require more CPU power than your 1GHz elder can offer. You can try to disable loop filter and hopefully it will help on choppy playback (if that is the issue).
