Give us the codec type ( Ctrl+I)

how can i set vlc to use my installed codecs?
Impossible. VLC only uses it own codecs (excluding possibility for WMV DMO).

Yes - VLC doesn't use external codec packs as it uses its own libraries instead.

As j-b said, if you, when (trying?) to play the file in VLC, press "Ctrl + I" and click on the "Advanced information" tab, then you should be able to see what Video/Audio codecs are being used. Without knowing the codecs then no one can give codec-specific support.

Cheers, Arite.

OK, well since VLC is presumably ending playback instantly you could try using a different program to find out the information. For example, MediaInfo (website here) is able to display the Video/Audio codecs information etc. in a video or audio file. You could try opening the file in that and it should tell you what codecs are used.

Cheers, Arite.
