VLC Crashes using large playlists

I'm not sure if anyone has noticed this, but it seems using very large playlists makes vlc on windows very unhappy and sometimes crashes just loading the list. I have a large media collection and sometimes just like to throw it on random and sit back,

oh by large i mean aproximately 30,000 items in it, I'm wondering if this problem is something anyone else has had and perhaps found a work around for

yep in the interface there seems to be no relevant changes, and just for kicks I tried all of this weeks builds no change same issues.

i find most of the time it fails emidiately when the playlist is opened the nightly builds have only proven to be less stable, I have the same issue on OS X vlc but not on linux or freebsd for some reason

I'm also experiencing this crash with a small playlist on the Windows 0.8.6c release.

Steps to reproduce:
- open a video
- add a 2nd video to the playlist
- play 2nd video by 2x-clicking on it
- while it plays, add 5-6 bookmarks
- save playlist
- reload it
- 2xclick on the 2nd video to play it
