Video & Black screen alternated

Hello,
when I launch VLC (0.8.6c) in streaming mode or viewing files, after a while I get a black screen which lasts around 10 seconds (with the sound on) then the image is back for 2 seconds then back to the black screen for another 10 seconds etc ...
It acts a bit like a screen save mode (when you move the mouse, the image is back).
It happens only with VLC. It stops as soon as I close VLC.
Is is a bug, a virus ?
