VLC does not display all subtitle lines

Hi,
I have 0.8.6.c, and I have some vidoes with subtitle files (*.srt). One very interesting thing is, I can open video along with SRT files, from time to time some lines inside one single file won't display. Most lines display correctly, but not for some.

I tried different video/SRT files, I can constantly find this problem.

Anybody knows why?

SRT is a text based format. Open the file with a text editor and look at the sections that are giving you trouble. You just may find the issue yourself.

In each new version of VLC, Subtitles continue to improve. VLC 0.9.0 should show some major improvements in this area.

Either there is a problem in the file itself or the "Subtitle Text Encoding" option is set incorrectly for your language. Another possibility is that the font is not allowing your language. This is less likely if you are in a Western European country.

Well, the file is in pure English.

There is nothing PURE about English! Try going to England and find out! :P

Try ISO-8859-1 for the Subtitles text encoding.

While I don't have issues with SRT files, I do use a Unicode font. C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\ARIALUNI.TTF
If you decide to try this the Freetype2 font renderer must be turned on. The font is part of Microsoft Office.
