This might be a little noobish question, but is it possible to convert a flv video to an mp3 file using vlc?

Dont think you can but you can convert flv to MPEG-4
free with Ultra Video To iPod Converter if thats any help

use a software called FLV Extract http://www.moitah.net/download/latest/FLV_Extract.zip and select audio(dont check video and timecodes) in the program.

drag, drop the flv file into it.
