Hi,
If i play vob files in vlc, it comes by frame by frame . also some avi's.
But it is fine in MPC.
I have p3 550 Mhz, with 4 Mb agp card.
What are the MAXIMUM performance increase for vlc.
i allready did for xp.

Your video card should be 100% compatible with DirectX 9c. Open your Task Manager and look at CPU usage. It should be 1 to 2% because the video card is doing all the work. However there is no memory on your video card so you may need to reduce the resolution and / or color depth of your video card.

But media player classic is able to play well.
This means vlc is memory hog.
I don't understand. Also any other player with less memmory usage.

MPC also uses 30 to 35% CPU usage playing a DVD on a relatively fast machine. You have an old slow machine with no memory on the video card. You can tell VLC not to use Video memory or you can change output modules. But neither of these are good resolves.

this means MPC is better than vlc??
But how mpc outperforms vlc.
I don't understand.

I don't call 30 to 35% CPU usage out preforms VLC. The problem is that you DON'T have any memory on your Video card! And you probably didn't try my suggestions. :P

How to do that & what to ?
I changed output module from default to directx output. is that ok.
But how to tell, not to use video memory.

When you use another output module (other than DirectX) it puts all the weight of decoding on your CPU. Also DVD's may not play properly other than dvdsimple (no menus).

The other option is to use DirectX and go to Preferences, Video, Output modules, DirectX and turn on "Use video buffers in system memory" then press Save and restart the player.

output module to directx works better.
But enabling or disabling, Use video buffers in system memory, has no effect.
with Directx movie plays well.
But i have to put video width & height to -1.
If i use width 300 & height 200, the color of the video changes & movie plays in slight slow motion.
So in my conclusion definitely MPC performs well than vlc on slower systems.
