Stream / Save question

Is there a way to force VLC to not overwrite the output file when saving a stream? I have been using it to capture asx streams for a client of ours, but every time the stream rebuffers, and also when it ends, the output file is overwritten. I thought that I had tried the "--sout-keep" option, but that did not seem to work...
Thanks!

No! And even if there was, only the first save would be playable.
Rename the file and use an editor to put the pieces together.

Not sure if I explained it well enough... when the stream ends or switches "songs," (it's actually a streamed telephone interview, with music at the beginning and end), the output file is overwritten. This means that if I have recorded a 40 minute stream, and I don't happen to catch it within the 2 seconds between it ending and the music track beginning, the entire output file is overwritten. I would have thought that normal behaviour would have been to either create another output file or just continue appending to the current one, but if that isn't the case, I'll have to live with using something else.
Thanks,

VLC has no means (ATM) to create a new file name for the new incoming file. Appending the new file won't work as most containers will play only the first file saved. Try the features request section of the forum. An auto naming convention would be a logical solution.
