Watch HD x264 format

Im sorry for my crappy english but im going to do my best.

When a watch HD movie with the x264 format the movie laggs but i heard that it can be becaus a por graphic card or a por CPU. But a friend told me that if a change a setting in the VLC player i can watch a x264 movie.

i dont remember what i was so im wondering what is it that can help my computer so i can watch a x.264 movie.

If there this is importan i have

AMD A64 2x4200+
Geforce 7800GTX
1500mb RAM

its "skip loop filter" in the x264 settings?

The codec in question is H.264 also known as MPEG4 part 10 or AVC. VLC can en-code this using the x264 library and de-code this using FFmpeg library.

So when you want to increase performance for viewing in your case then you have to be somewhere else: Preferences, Input / Codecs, Demuxers, Other codecs, FFmpeg, skip the loopfilter -> change to all
