Unplayable stream - any solution?

I've tried tp play/rip this stream with vlc 0.8.6a, but had no luck. I've listed the error output below.

The stream is: http:/mediasrv.musicradio.com/classicfm

This seems to get translated into: mms://mediasrv.musicradio.com/classicfm?MSWMExt=.asf

Which later gets a: HTTP/1.0 400 Bad Request

Looks like Windows not playing nice, as of course this opens and plays in windows media player. Adding the "MSWMExt=.asf" seems to screw up vlc.

The error messages are:

VLC is not the only player that won't open the stream. MPlayer, MPC and VLC do NOT work with this URL

Ok, I'm in Linux now. Same problems as windows trying to use VLC with this url. Mpalyer does work.

The stream opens in Firefox using mplayer as a plugin.

The stream opens at the CLI command using:

mplayer -vc null -vo null -nojoystick -nolirc http://mediasrv.musicradio.com/classicfm

The stream also opens in mplayer at the CLI using:

mplayer -vc null -vo null -nojoystick -nolirc -playlist aplaylist.txt

where aplaylist.txt contains the line: http://mediasrv.musicradio.com/classicfm

[chris@sweep radio]$ mplayer -vc null -vo null -nojoystick -nolirc -playlist aplaylist.txt

I don't know VLC well, maybe I can put the classicfm url in a playlist

But I was hoping to rip and save this stream and the GUI appears to need just the basic url to work with.

Any other ideas?

The KMPlayer (Windows) plays it too.
