Using multiple hardware encoder boards under DirectShow

Postby nhdpatrick » 30 Jan 2007 17:47

I am trying to build a system using VLN and Hauppague WinPVR-350 PCI MPEG2 encoders. Each WinPVR-350 has two analog video encoders onboard, and I have two WinPVR boards installed for a total of 4 encoders. Both of the hardware devices are referenced in DirectShow as "Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture", each PCI board having a single entry. (Where do I find the two missing encoders?)

When I attempt to run VLC in any capacity with input set to DirectShow using either of the Hauppague entries, I only get video from one board (always the board in the lowest numbered PCI slot).

Can anyone provide some guidance as to how I need to configure my system to allow VLC to simultaneously use multiple hardware encoders? I'm leaning towards some configuration of DirectShow, but cannot find documentation supporting my theory. I would greatly appreciate the help.
