Auto-Playing DVDs

Hi All!!
Its been a while since I've written in here, though I still continue to enjoy VLC to the fullest.
I do have a question though, and, if its answered (FAQs, etc), I haven't found it: What's a good command-line string to make a DVD auto-start VLC?
I have an umbrella program, "AnyDVD," which sorta cleans one up and goes straight to the menu. However, I have to Manually start VLC to get it to play.
I'd like to be able to pop-in the DVD and have VLC open directly to the menu. I have an open command line in AnyDVD: I just need the "go" string. Any thoughts?
Cheers!

I have been under the impression AnyDVD circumvented regions and CSS coding for direct copying purposes? Assuming XP this should not circumvent the auto pop up allowing player selection in an auto play situation. However Windows 9x did not have this option.
Try "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" dvd://%1
The %1 could be replaced with the letter of the drive, d: for example if there is only one DVD reader in your system.

Hmm... Whatever AnyDVD was meant to do, I don't copy DVDs. They're too cheap from Amazon lately to rate copying. Rather, I use it to shed such pc-invasive devices as "ActivePlayer" and rootkits. Also, it
is nice to be able to play DVDs from different regions. However, I've tried both
dvd://D: and
"dvd://D:", neither of which seem to work. Any more thoughts? (BTW: My OS is W2K SP4)
Cheers!

The quotes were necessary for the path and not the option. Unless you want to type it as c:\progra~1\videolan\vlc\vlc.exe dvd://d: which requires no quotes. The other possibility is that d: is not the DVD drive???

Actually, I have 2 optical drives, D: and F:, both of which will play DVDs, but I have AnyDVD pointed to D:.

The originally suggested %1 (or %L) is a Windows replaceable parameter and should work for any drive in a auto play situation.
