Audio cuts out after using the seek bar WinXP

Any time I use the seek bar I lose audio. I can only regain audio by hitting the stop button and starting at the beginning of the clip again. Does anybody know how to resolve this issue? I'm currently using WinXP, but I believe I've seen this behavior in Linux as well.

This totally depends on the encoding of the video you're playing. If it doesn't have a good index Vlc isn't the best at building its own while playing. What does your stream info dialog tell you (Ctrl-I)?

Nothing unusual here. I assume the file type is AVI??

Open Messages and have a look at the errors. I would guess it's an interleaving issue during the muxing of the file. What this means is the file does NOT want to sync to audio and the buffers are early or late and screwed in timing.
