Hiya,

I have two problems with VLC (I am running version 0.8.6). I am running windows XP SP2 on a laptop (with a screen refresh rate of 60Hz). The first is that the video image that is playing is VERY choppy during high motion. I am playing a DVD, and it is clear that up to a certain point the screen is showing one frame, then it shows another frame. Vsync is enabled on my graphics driver yet this problem still occurs.

The second problem I have is that all of my icons are now simply an orange cone. I have downloaded this icon pack:

hello about replacing icons I did a bit a research and it looks like you need an appropriate software like for example this one:

http://www.sibcode.com/icon-replacer/index.htm

to do the exchange, addition in the vlc.exe file. Maybe there are other ways or utilities.

The problem you describe and show on the picture happens to me too but with most players. I kinda of put it away on my media PC that is not the most powerful and fast, it is a Celeron D machine.

It happens always on the bottom 5th or 6th of the screen. Of course if there is a way to get rid of it I would welcome it.

Have you tried different output modules?

A different output module will not resolve the issue and shutting down the overlay option will make it worse. Generally the problem here is video drivers and or processor speed depending on the formats and resolution in use.

Problem was with the video drivers. Updated to Nvidia latest version, no problems now.
