Windows Media Encoder Problem MBR

Hi,

I have a 60 GB AVI rip of a DVD which I want to encode now as a MBR (Multiblke Bitrate) File for Streaming. I put it in the WME, make the adjustments for the two video files (750k and 1500k) and the WIndows Media Codec 9 and adjust the Audio.

When I start encoding, the screen says that the Video can not be viewed and after 30min. it says that it is done, but when I open the files, there is only a Audio inside, not a Video.

I hope you can help to find out the problem!
Thanks so much,
Michael

1. Considering that a DVD 9 is little over 8 gig in size you really had to work hard to make an AVI 60 gig in any format. :P

2. Also considering that your making this with WMF 9, what does this have to do with VLC???

3. I have no idea what a MBR is. Perhaps you are referring to VBR (Variable Bit Rate)??

4. With the info provided I would have no idea what the issue is. If you are using VLC to try to play this weird file try looking at messages. You can also press ctrl i while attempting to play the video and go to the advanced info.. tab. Post that info... here.

VLC does not fully support MBR (multi bitrate). For streaming this has the side effect of all data coming in (noticable by the "packet loss" warnings produced by data from the 2nd stream) and sometimes it will show all individual video streams when opened from file..

On Windows you could try adding --codec dmo to your commandline to force the Windows .dll to be used for decoding WMV instead of FFmpeg which uses the VC-1 decoder (which handles WMV9 as well now).

In 0.8.6 it take 5 seconds for the video window to open and 15 seconds for the video to display using WMv3 or WVC1 either ffmpeg or the Windows DMO. Considering it didn't do this in 0.8.5, I see this as a new issue, don't you?
