DVD movies lookes better on the TV than on TFT Monitor- why?
Is there any chance to generate the movie/image quality from the TV on the TFT monitor

Select "deinterlace" from the "video menu".

If that doesn't help, then your eyes are cheating you. TV looks better because it's analog and does a sort of "blending", sometimes called "bleeding" that makes it look better, but actually decreases the resolution. It becomes less sharp.

This could also be a brightness or contrast issue, where the majority of video card monitor combinations leave the video overlay for media file a bit to dark when general Windows have a comfort level. This can be corrected using the overlay settings on your video card or using the extended GUI in VLC.
