muLaw support - Bug? Oversight?

Postby Piyono » 16 Nov 2006 19:32

VLC will not play back files encoded using muLaw companding. I noticed a few posters mentioning streaming problems with muLaw. Is this a bug?

Am I the only one bothered by this?

Hello,

I have a Kodak V1253 camera that takes great HD video with stereo audio encoded in Mu Law. The Video portion of the file plays great, but audio is broken with a second or so of hissing every 5-6 seconds and no normal sound. I have seen many other people say that they have similar problems with VLC. I'm using VLC 0.8.6d Janus (Intel). Other windows users report the same issue.

Included is an example file (plays correctly on quicktime) at http://homepage.mac.com/rayner4/FileSharing2.html

I (and many others) would be so jazzed if we could get this feature (Mu Law audio playback) working. It's probably a real simple fix.

Gary.
