Flac transcoding problem

Postby little_gritche » 06 Oct 2006 19:40

Hello,

i'm trying to transcode a flac file but doing so, i am unable to hear the sound from the file. the only sound I have is some noise.

I have these information in the messages :
"stream_out_transcode debug: drift is too high, resetting master sync"
It appears multiple times per seconds.

I am using those options to transcode it:
sout=#transcode:std
transcode:std
sout-transcode-ab=384
sout-transcode-acodec=mpga
sout-transcode-channels=2
sout-transcode-vt=1000000
file-caching=300

Thanks a lot for your help

I have tried and have not been able to get a FLAC file into anything else

flacdec debug: decode STREAMINFO
flacdec debug: channels:2 samplerate:44100 bitspersamples:16
flacdec debug: STREAMINFO decoded
flacdec debug: decode STREAMINFO
flacdec debug: channels:2 samplerate:44100 bitspersamples:16
flacdec debug: STREAMINFO decoded

main debug: adding a new input
stream_out_transcode debug: creating audio transcoding from fcc=`s16l' to fcc=`mp3 '
main debug: looking for decoder module: 27 candidates
araw debug: samplerate:44100Hz channels:2 bits/sample:16
main debug: using decoder module "araw"
main debug: looking for encoder module: 10 candidates
ffmpeg debug: libavcodec already initialized
ffmpeg debug: found encoder MPEG Audio layer 1/2/3
main debug: using encoder module "ffmpeg"

Then this happens during the encode:

main warning: buffer is 75805 in advance, triggering downsampling
main warning: timing screwed, stopping resampling
main warning: buffer is 118366 in advance, triggering downsampling
main warning: audio drift is too big (-162652), clearing out
main warning: timing screwed, stopping resampling
main warning: mixer start isn't output start (-12335)
main warning: audio drift is too big (-162470), clearing out
main debug: audio output is starving (139786), playing silence

So nothing is ever encoded.

It appears that the pins are not connecting or connecting properly. It will take a developer to comment on this one.

Thanks for having confirmed my problem.
To add few pieces of information, I use VLC 0.8.5 and Windows XP.

Thanks again

To add more information, I have tested with a nightly build of VLC 0.8.6 from "branch-20061005-1609" for Windows.
I had no success in trying to get a transcoded stream with it. The messages I have are :

Code: Select all

main warning: buffer is 64196 in advance, triggering downsampling main warning: audio drift is too big (-122450), clearing out main warning: timing screwed, stopping resampling main warning: audio drift is too big (-122267), clearing out main warning: mixer start isn't output start (-56087) main warning: buffer is 57711 in advance, triggering downsampling main warning: timing screwed, stopping resampling main warning: buffer is 103900 in advance, triggering downsampling main warning: audio drift is too big (-153560), clearing out main warning: timing screwed, stopping resampling main warning: mixer start isn't output start (-12943) main warning: audio drift is too big (-153378), clearing out main warning: buffer is 52541 in advance, triggering downsampling main warning: timing screwed, stopping resampling main warning: buffer is 108061 in advance, triggering downsampling main warning: audio drift is too big (-160600), clearing out main warning: timing screwed, stopping resampling main warning: mixer start isn't output start (-10463) main warning: audio drift is too big (-160418), clearing out main warning: buffer is 55829 in advance, triggering downsampling main warning: timing screwed, stopping resampling main warning: buffer is 110725 in advance, triggering downsampling main warning: audio drift is too big (-158209), clearing out main warning: timing screwed, stopping resampling main warning: mixer start isn't output start (-11303) main warning: audio drift is too big (-158026), clearing out main warning: buffer is 51906 in advance, triggering downsampling main warning: timing screwed, stopping resampling main warning: buffer is 107165 in advance, triggering downsampling main warning: audio drift is too big (-166417), clearing out main warning: timing screwed, stopping resampling main warning: audio drift is too big (-166235), clearing out main warning: mixer start isn't output start (-75311) [...]
And it goes on like this during the transcoding of the FLAC file. Reading the file without transcoding it works great.

Thanks
