Nobody has this problem ?

In VideoLan features, it is written :
"MPEG (ES,PS,TS,PVA,MP3) Yes Yes Yes Yes ..."

but the mpeg file produced by progdvb cannot be read.

And Windows Media Player play this file fingers in the nose

Without a sample of a file it is rather difficult to know when it comes to the possibilities of MPEG TS, but more often than not it is a PID selection problem. You can start by looking at the audio and or video track information. However, the case of multiple streams the program id may need to be changed.

You can found a sample at this url:
-None-

It's a single stream with 1 video track and 1 audio tracck.

Any idea ?

ProgDvb and VLC

Hi Albert H.

I have the same Problen with _some_ Stations in Germany.
When I record an 'ARD'-station, i can't view it in VLC, but process with
PVAstrumento+mpeg2schnitt+ifoedit and burn a DVD with nero,
and then watch the DVD on TV,
but i can't watch this DVD (and the intermedia mpg-files) with VLC :-(
there iss only sound and a black video-window.

The transmissions of 'Pro7-Sat1'-group i can watch with VLC.

greetings
martin

Bon...

After the fix with ProjectX everything is fine. I think that's not a VLC problem...but mplayer or the Windows MediaPlayer has no problems with the original files.
The transmissions of 'Pro7-Sat1'-group i can watch with VLC
same to me. another little sample 'http://petgun.g4.gs/ARTE-September23212843.mpg'

Hi Albert,

I have problems with all Stations of 'ARD' and 'ZDF',
(with the exeption of an old b/w-Western from BR some weeks ago)
and no/less Problems with 'pro7-Sat1'-stations.

i can split(Pvastrumento), cut (mpeg2schnitt), author(ifoedit) and burn a DVD(nero5) ALL stations without any problem, and i can view it on
a DVD-Player too.

i really wonder that the favorite mplayer (use the same codecs?) has no problem with the files...?

Posted: 27 Sep 2006 11:34
by Albert H.
Yep, you're right petgun, mplayer use the libmpeg2 module to decode mpeg2 file and VLC too !
(But with VLC it doesn't work.)

I found this in the mplayer documentation :
7.1.4. MPEG-1/2 video
MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 are decoded by the multiplatform native libmpeg2 library, whose source code is included in MPlayer. We handle buggy MPEG-1/2 video files by catching Signal 11 (segmentation fault), and quickly reinitializing the codec, continuing exactly from where the failure occurred. This recovery technique has no measurable speed penalty.

@Albert H.
please post in english...and please be _patient_. I am sure the time will come, that the developer take a look to our problems with progdvb.

if you don't provide a sample, no one can investigate it of course.

there are two samples in this thread http://perso.orange.fr/marolles/progdvb.mpg and http://petgun.g4.gs/ARTE-September23212843.mpg ...here is a new one: ftp.videolan.org/incoming/arte.mpg I hope you can read it...it's invisible for me. The same sample

Thank you,

Any news on this problem? All my recordings from ProgDVB are impossible to play properly in VLC. They work fine in Mplayer.
