dynamic menu/slider/etc hiding

Postby gahbahj » 21 Aug 2006 01:47

i searched and found out how to get video windows to open with only title bar by default - but this setup requires restarting vlc, and appears to work only for local files associated with vlc, not something like an mms stream. is there a command, interface or skin that is able to hide interface elements dynamically in the same manner as mpclassic player [which uses ctrl keys to toggle hide/show title/menu/controls/info]. i found the hotkey item "i" to show interface, but the hide option is blank and if u put in a hotkey sequence [shift i] it does nothing i can see. thanks for help :)

Assuming I am understanding your query, just use your mouse too tap outside the interface area. If you want mouse control to show the interface go to preferences, Interface "Show interface with mouse" check the box, press Save and close the player. Moving the cursor to the top of the screen will show the interface. :)

thanks for your response - i already have the box u mention checked, and it applies only in full screen for me. something less than full always has some interface remaining - at minimum the title bar, whether skin1 or skin2. to see what i'm talking about i guess u might have to see mpclassic which is also free and open source and here:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... e_id=84358

perhaps there isnt anything like this yet, and someone can put this over into feature requests if so.

There are a few things that may help you in your endeavor. But remember no two programs are alike.

1. you can look for a small skin but the features vary with skins and are generally less than the wxWidgets interface.

2. Shutting off Window decorations in preferences, Video

3. Not embedding the video interface in Preferences, Interface, Main interfaces, wxWidgets and in the same place try System tray rather than Task bar.

It would also be smart to create a new shortcut with no options after VLC.EXE

All changes to preferences require pressing Save and restarting the player.
