Real Media Files

Postby Aztek » 24 Jun 2006 06:47

http://wiki.videolan.org/index.php/Real_Media_Video
but in your RealMedia file, there's all sorts of networking stuff, and it is that which causes problems.
What happens if you make a codec for RM files that "ignores" anything BUT the video itself... atleast to begin with...

Real problem is that there really aren't any Real Media Video decoders available, most rmvb and rm files use only Real Media codecs.
So Real Media support ain't coming before someone reverse engineers Real Media decoder.

Real alternative uses codecs from Real Player, so it works only on Windows and from legal point it ain't standing on good ground.

Two words that seem to go together in this request are Proprietary and unlikely!
