Bug or not bug ?

I think I've found à bug... Read this :

If I change all the following option in the Preference (Menu Setting / Preference or Ctrl + S), in the Interface section :
a) Interface : Verbosity 0
Language French
Show advenced options -> YES
Show interface with mouse -> YES
b) Interface > Main Interface : Interface Module -> Skinnable Interface
Skinnable Interface -> YES (first)
wxWidgets Interface -> YES (second)
c) Interface > Main Interface > wxWidgets : Embed video in the interface -> YES
Bookmarks dialog -> YES
Barre des tâches -> YES
Taskbar -> YES
Extended GUI -> YES
Playlist -> Both
d) Interface > Main Interface > Skin : Enable transparency effects -> YES

I close the windows Preference. Then I change the default skin with the Skin2, then automaticly VLC is minimized and I can't open the main interface (no resizing possible, no opening, etc...) when I launch VLC.EXE.

For have a correct interface of VLC, I much delete the next folder : %Path_To_My_Profile%\Application Data\vlc (parameters of VLC)

If I active each option but not the Interface Module (Default option) and only Skinnable Interface -> YES (first) and wxWidgets Interface -> YES (second) this problem appear. If I active the 3 options and I REBOOT the VLC main program, this does'nt appear !

Is it truly a new bug ?

b) This is not possible to RESET the preference (only delete the folder who contain the preferences) ;
c) No open ticket found with this problem,

a) O.S. : Windows XP SP1 (specific production modification) & Windows XP SP1 (without modification) ;
b) Hardware : HP Compaq nc6200 (default hardware configuration) & Acer 1700 (default hardware configuration) ;
c) Specification : no special movie playing, no special sound, etc. Only editing the preferences ;

Is it a bug ? Or not ?
(If yes, I report this in the bug-tracker)

Selecting the skinable interface check box under extra interface modules will add the skins interface to wxWidgets and cause the program to fail. This requires erasing VLC's preferences to correct the problem. This in a known issue.

If you want the skins2 module select it from the interface module pull down in the same preferences menu.

No I don't use the skin2, there was only for show the options, functions etc. of the main program.
And this bug...

I've find the solution too (erase folder preference) but I don't find the "ticket" of the bug in the bug tracking system...

Sorry! I have tried reading your first post several times. Perhaps I'm not understanding the problem. From the settings you describe the problem appears when using the skins2 interface.

Perhaps it is trying to switch between the skins2 and wxWidgets interfaces within VLC after setting and saving your preferences and restarting the player. If so this issue has been resolved in 0.8.5 final.

But just to be sure I understand what you are saying, I will go through this with you:

Playlist -> Both <-- This is a hidden option and doesn't work well, can cause problems. Suggest leaving it at the default.

I have never experienced this action. Are you Saving the Preferences and then closing the player? A restart is necessary for the changes to take effect. If you are doing this and the problem only occurs when switching between interfaces while the player is running please update VLC to 0.8.5 final.

Is there a particular skin you are using? Some of them may have problems. Some of them do not minimize or offer all of the features available.

If you are switching between interfaces using the shortcuts in your start menu, the shortcuts over ride the options set in preferences. Try creating a new shortcut with no options after VLC.EXE There are times that this has caused some issues but not lockups or crashes that I am aware of. The developers admit that some users can create combinations of preferences that do NOT work together and these do create problems. That is why the reset feature is there.

If for some reason I still have not covered your issue. Please try describing the problem again.
