VLC and Firefox

I installed VLC 0.8.5 and in the process told it to install the Mozilla plugin. Now Firefox (v1.5.0.3) hangs when I access pages with embedded .mov files in them. Any suggestions about what's wrong? Should I just cut my loses and forget the plugin? Thanks!

Oops! I forgot to add that I'm running VLC and Firefox on Windows XP Pro.

I'm running VLC in Firefox 1.0.5.3 as well, but on W2000. VLC 0.8.5 bombed on me there as well, so I backed-off to VLC 0.8.4a, and the problem went away. Still a few glitches yet in VLC 0.8.5, I think...

Ok, I think I'll do the same thing.

Boy! Y'all aughta visit the Firefox forums some time! I'm a regular over there too, and you aught to hear the screams about VLC: They either love it or hate it -- no middle ground there...

There's chatter about how to cripple it, where to move (stick) it, what .dlls to move where, and a whole host of whiners (some others from here too)...

Personally, I've never found a problem with the fusion at all, save as some others have wished, that VLC handled streaming .mid too... If it weren't for that, I wouldn't carry Q'time either, and VLC would do everything... <sigh>

Hi guys,

I also encounter a problem with VLC (0.8.5) and Firefox (1.5.0.3). Each time I load a webpage with a video (or a sound apparently), Firefox shutdown...

I have uninstalled VLC, reinstalled it without Mozilla Plugin (and ActiveX to) and everything work fine now.

I hope that you'll find the problem because I really love VLC.
