Hi,
I would open VLC with the playlist on a double clic on a desktop shortcut.
I have a freebox (france).
This is my actually shortcut :
Code: Select all
"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" http://mafreebox.freebox.fr/freeboxtv/playlist.m3u
Do you know how to open the playlist too ?
Thanks !!

During the install you were given the option to associate .m3u with VLC, assuming you did this you can double click on the playlist. However if you have iTunes installed it will have a tendency to steel back the extension. But you can go to the Windows setting and fix this permanently. Open My Computer and select Tools, Folder Options, File Types and search for .m3u select change and set it to VLC. You will also probably need to change the icon.

Thanks DJ,
But m3u is ok !
I think you don't understand me because my english is so bad !
See this link (down of page):
http://adsl.free.fr/tv/multiposte/
- I have a VLC desktop shortcut to open VLC player
- I added a link in the shortcut to open VLC player with TV channel :
Code: Select all
"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" http://mafreebox.freebox.fr/freeboxtv/playlist.m3u
- Now when I 'double clic' on my desktop shortcut, it open VLC player on the first TV channel of the playlist. That is ok !
- But I whant to do something more:
I want to open VLC player
and the playlist to have all TV channel to select (Like the last picture in the link
http://adsl.free.fr/tv/multiposte/ )
Thanks !

I hate to say this but my French is very rusty!
It appears that they are supplying the playlist or that you can download it from them. Then all you should need to do is open the playlist in VLC. IE View, Playlist

Please do :
-Start
-execute
cmd
-ok
Now, how do you open the VLC player with the playlist window ?!
---------------------------
PS: Do you know what are commands lines ?

Once the play list is opened it remains open through subsequent calls to VLC until you close it. IE it remembers that the play list is open so you need only open it once.
However if you need command lines to preform this function they may be obtained by opening a DOS box and typing CD "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC" then type: vlc -H or vlc then type: edit vlc-help.txt
You can also try: vlc --longhelp --advanced (caution it's 25 pages long.)

Hmm. I setup a shortcut on my desktop, duplicated his command line and tried to access Freebox. I didn't receive anything. When I clicked on the playlist icon in VLC (the three bars), a playlist box opened, and Freebox...m3u was highlighted, but I couldn't click it open -- it just sat there... Help?
(Also, what links might I find in the US that should work similarly? This one can be in email if off topic...)
Cheers!

I'm sorry Starchild,
I don't understand anything...
Freebox is a french provider's modem.
I want to open VLC and his playlist window on a clic on my desktop shortcut. But I don't have the command line to open the playlist.
Something like that:
But '-p' don't run...

-p is for showing help relative to a module. What would you want to use that for ?

Bonjour Antoine,
Petit topo :

Hm. Where can we get a list of command line switches and their meanings?
