0.8.5 crashes with .flv files

I only have 3 .flv files. In fact I had never heard of them until a few days ago when I learned how to download files from YouTube. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I already had a media player that could play them.

2 of the 3 crash 0.8.5 but the other plays fine. The ones that crash play for a couple of seconds then go blank. The player is still on the screen but no one is home.

I have deleted my profile and started clean and re-downloaded one of the offenders with the same results. Any ideas?

But I agree, the player should not crash.

What does that mean? That it's an unsupported file type?

OK! I'm doing this from memory, but as I recall support for .flv files in 0.8.4 was accidental through one of the third party packages VLC uses. VLC never supported it directly.

As for Real Media files this will never Happen! As this is a closed source format. Can you spell proprietary?

Perhaps one of the developers can shed more light on the .flv thing.
