just found vlc and it's great. however, any time i load a video it plays the video in a 2" x 2" window. so i drag the corner to make it larger. once the video is over and i open another, it's back to the ole 2" x 2" window. how do i make ALL videos play in a larger screen every time without having to drag the corner to resize?

Hi thaKing

Settings - Preferences - Video - change "Zoom Video".

You can also define the size in pixel: Settings - Preferences - Video - change "Video width" and "Video height".

Or if the video is running - right-click - Zoom - double.

oh man...i changed all those and there is one thing i overlooked - the SAVE option...i have just hit OK, and later on they were reset...completely overlooked the SAVE feature...

one other thing about resizing: when i hit stop, or don't have a video playing VLC essentially "shrinks" to just the control bar (play, stop, ff, rew, etc)...is there a way to keep VLC the same size regardless of whether a video is playing or not?

I forgot "Save and restart", i usually add to my posts.

You could disable "Embed video in interface" via Settings - Preferences - Interface - Main Interfaces - wxWidgets.
Than you got a single window for video.

not exactly what i was looking for...hate to do it, but compare it to windows media player...after watching a movie in WMP and you stop it the video screen and everything stays the same size...it is not reduced to just a toolbar after the movie is done playing...is it possible to do that with VLC?

Maybe a skin is working like you wish, it is worth a try.
