Hi,
I have tried to play the input from composite video port using vlc-0.8.5-test1 and vlc-0.8.5-test2-20060401-0001 under Windows XP on a Toshiba Qosmio F20-141 laptop.
The video is played, but no sound. The only audio device that can be selected in "DirectShow" tab of the "Open Capture Device" dialog box is "SoundMax Digital Audio". I tried all possible inputs from this device (Line In, CD Playaer, Wave Out, Microphone, ...) with no success.
During the first seconds of playback I can hear strange flicks or clicks instead of expected sound, and after those first seconds only the silcence.
If I start vlc with --extraintf logger -vvv, as recommended here in Capture Card - No Audio (Bug?) topic (viewtopic.php?t=853&highlight=composite)
I can see messages like this:
audio output is starving (73762), playing silence
I also tried the trick with Windows Media Encoder suggested in the above topic, with no result.
However, if I try to capture composite video in "Windows Media Center" (in TV settings section), I get both video and sound.
My laptop also has a IEEE1394 port, and when I connect a video camera (via DV out) to it, both video and sound are perfectly captured by VLC.
Any ideas about getting sound from composite video port?
