Sound problems using SPDF out (Optical)

I get a pulsating repedative sound, like a quick repeat of a split second piece of sound when using the SPDF (Optical) card. If I play using media player there is no problem. I prefer Videolan, what can I do to get proper sound from the SPDF output.

Surely I'm not the only person who wants to watch HDTV & other formats with 5.1 sound. Is there no one who can help?

Already being discussed in a couple other threads

I have seen this problem. There are is are a couple oter threads already going about this, dependent upon your operating system.

The solution I found worked for me (and for some others) was to get one of the recent nightly builds, and use the "Win32 waveOut extention output" for the Audio ouput module. You will have to go into the Preferences, and select:

Audio->Output Modules

When you get that dialog, check the "Advanced options", that will let you set the output module. Then SPDIF may work for you. It worked for me.

If you do a search in the forum for A52, you will find the thread where this is being discusssed.

I had done a search but nothing came up untill I put in your magic words 'win 32'. I have now turned this on & all (fingers Crossed) is well.

Thanks for your help.
