Hi,
I installed VLC together with the Mozilla plugin, but it doesn't work.
I just see nothing when I try to see an embeded videofile and often Firefox even crashes. Reinstalled it a few times, but still doesn't work.
And please don't tell me about MediaPlayerConnectivity-Extension for Firefox. I hate this extension and it also doesn't work. VLC opens just an empty window.
I also searched the forum, but I didn't find anything.
I'm testing with this website:
http://www.uni-koeln.de/rrzk/multimedia/plugintest/
VLC 0.8.4a
Firefox 1.5.0.1

Where is this plugin located and how do I remove it? Or get it to work?
Thank You

OK I have now replaced the vlc firefox plugins from the latest test version with the 0.8.4a version, and FireFox says the plugin has performed a illegal operation
Help?

1. you can't intermix plugins or libraries versions of VLC as it will most likely crash.
2. It appears that the installer for test 1 is not installing the Mozilla plugin. So you will need to download the zip file and do it manually.

OK I have tried both 0.8.4a and 0.8.5-test1 after uninstalling VLC, neither work with FireFox 1.5.0.1 I get no video and when I try to close the tab FF will crash/quit. Removing the VC plugins and it goes back to using WMP and all works again.

Could be a Firefox bug.
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=328204 created in Feb 2006 is "illegal operation in plug-in quicktime 7.0.2 (and 7.0.4 ) while trying to play a m4a video on apple.com site". Also, a couple of older Ff bugs (like
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=241799) note that
If MIME-type needed is not assigned to QuickTime in QuickTime Browser Plug-in
settings then Firefox 1.0 wants reinstall QuickTime everytime.
Worse, it seems that Ff will not allow you to assign types that are
supposed to be QT types to another program unless QT is installed.
