Newcomer: Basic queries

Postby terrypin » 27 Feb 2006 10:43

Just discovered VLC. Looks like it's going to be a great tool, many thanks!

A few basic initial queries please:

1. How do I get VLC to stay open (at initial frame) after playing a video, instead of minimising abruptly to its small window?

2. I used Open With from an XP folder to associate VLC with AVI files. On d-clicking a series of AVIs, I'm getting a new instance for every one.

3. How can I take a screenshot of a single frame?

4. Is there a Help file? (I just get About.)

Look forward to playing with its dauntingly versatile features when I've mastered the basics!

1. Not that i know
2. Search this forum for "one instance only" and you'll find how to change that behavior.
3. Use the Ctrl-Alt-S hotkey (the snapshot is then saved in the My Images or My Pictures directory)
4. http://www.videolan.org/doc/ and http://wiki.videolan.org
