By pressing the Save button Open the playlist while inside VLC and from the Manage pull down select Save Playlist...

By double clicking on the playlist in the directory where it is saved, if VLC is the default player for the playlist. If not, you can right click on the playlist and select VLC.

This rather depends on the author of the skin, but most of them offer a similar function in the playlist. You are just going to have to play with it a bit. Many times just hovering over a control with your mouse pointer will offer help about the control.
