hello !!

excuse if i post the probleme a second time (i've search but not found)

i've just try to read an avi file with a very long name (more than 60 letters) and just when vlc try to read it my PC (with W2000) crash and reboot....

i dont understand first, but each time it reboot....

Of course this name is not realy beautifull, i decide (i dont know why) to reduce to 40 letters (it's still very long i know...)
but surprise : no crash now !

is it a bug ? or something else ?

thanks

Which version is involved ?

Can you try with a snapshot binary no older than tomorrow (20050214) ?

Right. Thanks :)

Would you please kindly retry with tomorrow's binary as that of today was significantly broken and has been significantly, and I'd rather be sure that the bug does not show up again ?

(Of course, we have to wait until tomorrow...)

How did you tell VLC to open said file (drag & drop, open dialog, opening straight from explorer via file association, etc)?

Did you try other open method?

excuse me
but now i'm not sure that crash are due to VLC (the first time yes but now no)

i've some problem with several program (and random) crash in my computer.

on my second computer (W xp),all the last nighty VLC don't crash with long name.
(i try to open by "open" menu and by click from explorer)

i'll try to resolve my problem on this computer and come back as soon it's possible to tell you about crash on W2000

thanks
