VLC not working properly on XP since 3.0.0

Postby Cixert » 23 Dec 2024 05:55

The last VLC version that works well for me on Windows XP is 2.2.8
From then on, several problems arise.
3.0.0 to 3.0.3
In full screen the video progress bar flickers.
3.0.4 to 3.0.20
When double-clicking in full screen, the minimized screen is not built. The video does shrink, but the Windows window controls do not appear. The entire screen appears black except for the area where the video is still playing. In this circumstance, it is not possible to stop VLC in any way until the video finishes playing. Even control+alt+delete and control+tab to switch to another application do not work.
If I don't want to wait 2 hours for the movie to finish, I have to force the computer to shut down by cutting off the power.

I've tried on another computer. There are some differences.
3.0.0. to 3.0.3
The progress bar popup in full screen doesn't shake. It works fine.
3.0.4 to 3.0.20
The problem of "the window borders disappearing when switching from full screen to minimized screen" doesn't occur, but the progress bar in full screen doesn't appear.

You should create a new report ticket on the VLC issues tracker with your above report and the link to this thread:
